Bayleys builds confidence on the North Shore

The strongest businesses invest with a long-term view, recognising that the quality of their people, workplaces, and client experience ultimately shapes their competitive advantage. Bayleys Real Estate’s investment in a new purpose-designed North Shore headquarters in central Takapuna embodies that thinking, bringing its Commercial & Industrial, and Residential teams together in a landmark architecturally designed building.

The project, dubbed ‘Bayleys Corner’, has transformed a dated commercial property into a contemporary workplace which contributes to the ongoing regeneration of Takapuna while reinforcing Bayleys’ commitment to the North Shore.

Bayleys Auckland Commercial general manager, Scott Campbell, who led the project, says the investment echoes a broader strategy centred on investing in people and the environments that support them.

“Property has always been a relationship business. While technology has changed how we work, it hasn’t diminished the importance of bringing talented people together, creating spaces where ideas are shared, and clients can engage with specialists in a way that isn’t possible through a screen.”

Campbell says Bayleys’ continued investment in bricks-and-mortar assets comes at a time when many organisations remain cautious, reflecting the firm’s long-term conviction in both quality real estate and the workplaces that support its people.

“We advise clients every day about the value of investing in quality real estate, and we’re demonstrating the same conviction ourselves. The environments we occupy become an expression of our standards and the confidence we have in the future of our business.”

Campbell says Bayleys Corner builds on recent investment in the firm’s Remuera office, with further workplace projects planned across Auckland.

“We’re creating places where people genuinely want to work because culture, collaboration and pride directly influence client outcomes. We’ve also seen these environments become an extension of the communities they serve, strengthening local connections and reinforcing the Bayleys brand.”

The approach also shapes how clients experience the business.

Bayleys North Shore Residential’s branch manager, Kathryn Robertson, says integrating the firm’s residential, commercial and industrial specialists creates a more seamless experience by bringing specialist expertise together under one roof.

“Clients increasingly value advisors who can support every stage of their property journey. Bringing our residential, commercial and industrial specialists together allows clients to access broader expertise through one trusted team.”

The building itself has been designed to encourage that connection. Positioned on the prominent corner of Lake Road and Northcroft Street, Bayleys Corner incorporates a public café adjoining the auction room, creating a welcoming space that extends beyond the office and into the wider community.

For Bayleys North Shore Commercial and Industrial general manager, Simon Farland, the project also reflects Takapuna’s growing momentum.

He says the vision from the outset was to create a workplace capable of supporting the business for decades while contributing positively to Takapuna’s ongoing transformation.

“Bayleys’ investment mirrors the growing confidence evident across Takapuna, where current and future developments, including Knight Crawford’s Takapuna Surf Club, Willis Bond’s Takapuna Central and HND Holdings’ The Strand, are helping to redefine the town centre.”

Farland believes Bayleys Corner is indicative of a broader shift underway across Takapuna.

“When businesses are prepared to invest in quality developments, it creates momentum. It encourages further investment, strengthens confidence in the precinct and ultimately contributes to building a town centre people want to work in, invest in and spend time in.”
